Lectures:
Lecture 1: "Viruses Causing Outbreaks"
Times: 11:00 - 11:30, 13:00- 13:30 and 15:00 - 15:30
Speakers: Radko Avi and Kristi Huik, University of Tartu
Description: Explore where viruses come from, how they cause pandemics, and the role of humans, animals, and the environment in outbreaks.
Lecture 2: " Understanding Zoonoses - diseases we share with animals"
Times: 12:00 - 12:30, and 14:00 - 14:30, 16:00 - 16:30
Speaker: Marina Loch, Estonian University of Life Sciences (EMU)
Description: Learn about zoonotic diseases that spread between humans and animals, with examples like COVID-19 and tuberculosis.
Workshops:
Workshop 1: "Having Fun with Microbes!"
Times: 12:00 - 12:45, 14:00 - 14:45, and 16:00 - 16:45
Hosts: Kristi Huik and Arina Sablinskaja, University of Tartu
Activities:
Check for invisible microbes with UV light.
Fun “pepper-water-soap” experiment to see how germs spread and the power of soap.
A game in two groups: virus vs. people, to learn about infection spread.
Workshop 2: "Tiny Germ Detectives: Exploring Microbes and Staying Healthy!"
Times: 11:00 - 11:45, 13:00 - 13:45, and 15:00 - 15:45

Activities:
Observe bacteria under a microscope and learn about hand hygiene.
Handprint activity on agar plates to see before-and-after effects of handwashing.
Apple rewards for hygiene champs and creative coloring for younger kids.
