OH-Boost at "Borderless Border Management 2025" in Narva!
On March 4-5, 2025, representatives of the OH-Boost project participated in the international "Borderless Border Management 2025" conference in Narva, Estonia. The event brought together over 100 experts from public institutions, academia, and the private sector to explore the latest advancements and challenges in border management and internal security.
As security threats become more complex, the One Health approach is more relevant than ever. Border management is not just about surveillance and technology—it also requires preparedness for health-related threats, including pandemics, zoonotic diseases, and biosecurity risks. OH-Boost was there to emphasize why One Health matters in defense and security policies.
Key Takeaways from the Conference:
🔹 Border security requires continuous innovation, investment, and interdisciplinary cooperation.
🔹 The golden triangle—practitioners, businesses, and academia—plays a crucial role in future-proofing border management.
🔹 One Health is security—ensuring health resilience is essential for addressing cross-border risks.
🔹 Strategic collaboration between EU institutions, Frontex, eu-LISA, and national agencies is vital for strengthening border governance.
Our participation in this conference reinforced OH-Boost’s commitment to integrating One Health into security policies, bridging knowledge between health and defense experts, and fostering new partnerships in research, training, and innovation.
A big thank you to the Estonian Academy of Security Sciences, Estonian Research Council, Police and Border Guard Board, Ministry of the Interior, and TalTech for organizing this insightful event in Narva—right at the beginning of the EU and NATO area!
