The recent webinar, on the 28th of November, 2024, on Microbiota Data Analysis and Statistics brought together leading experts to share their knowledge on innovative tools and methodologies for microbiome research. The event provided valuable insights into cutting-edge bioinformatics platforms, statistical approaches, and best practices for microbiota data analysis.
Highlights from the Presentations:
Johanna Muurinen (University of Helsinki): Shared the journey from microbiota sampling to statistical analysis, emphasizing real-world applications in microbiology and the importance of linking research plans with statistical methods.
Tuomas Borman (University of Turku): Presented the capabilities of Bioconductor, the world's largest bioinformatics platform, focusing on the MIA (MIcrobiome Analysis) framework. He also introduced a free, open-source online book on microbiome analysis. A portion of his presentation is now available on YouTube for those who missed the live session! Watch below!
Tanel Kaart (Estonian University of Life Sciences): Discussed practical experiences and emerging ideas in omics data analysis, highlighting statistical modeling and multivariate techniques in life sciences.
Ilja Weinstein (University of Helsinki): Demonstrated the Lazypipe bioinformatic pipeline for viral metagenomics, showcasing its applications in both healthcare and veterinary diagnostics.
We thank our speakers for their contributions and all participants for joining this insightful session.
